i am not a hopeless romantic, i am more of a hapless romantic. a sentimental hapless romantic, yes. that is an apt description. so being that sentimental hapless romantic that i am, i decided it best to construct valentine's day cards for my two favorite people in this world (thereby thwarting hallmark's plan of world domination via made-up holidays). so last night over at my favorite neighbor's house i was toiling away, with my indecisive self i might add, planning the perfect card for my sweetest girl. i wanted to make her a pretty, keep-worthy-so-when-she-becomes-a-rebellious-teen-i-have-ammo-against-her-defensiveness, sweet little card.
everything was going swimmingly, until the cricut started ripping paper. not just a little, but enough to make you believe that that is how it is supposed to work, ripping of paper. over and over and over. i was becoming frustrated to the point of breaking the thing to bits. what the world could be wrong with this thing? i had changed every possible changy thing that could be changed and it was still ripping the paper. so after several iterations of what could be wrong with this POS with new blade and everything. oh wait. new blade? new blade? i then recalled, through the fog, dust-bunnies, and cobwebs which have resided comfortably in my mind for the past 2+ years, that i saved that *new* blade so jeff could sharpen it. that fleeting moment of clarity smacked me with the realization of what motherhood is all about (at least in the early years): dumbing down the mommies.
happy valentines day, everyone!

bad blogger. bad, bad blogger.
i am a bad blogger. period. after hemming and hawing over what to write and how to editorialize lucy's experiences and daily happenings, i have come to terms with the fact that i am completely uncomfortable with over-disclosure. hence forth (being it my intention to actually do some blogging now) this blog will be comprised with little anecdotes of daily (likely, not exactly daily) life constraining personal details to the minimum. i will, however, (most definitively) provide my opinion of the comings and goings of those little details.

lucy: baby or teenage boy?
okay, moms, how many of you out there breastfed your babies? Raise 'em up 1, 2, 3.....50; okay, how many of you made it through the first year 1, 2, 3, 4....20; okay, so how many beyond that 1, 2, 3. Three, now really, i don't know what the statistics say, but i would venture to guess that few moms make it past the one-year mark and my insight grows daily....
so as some of you know, i will be nursing my little until 2 (now, i have to admit, it makes me a little uneasy to think that lucy will be able to ask in complete sentences with anatomical correct words for what she wants by the age of 2, so there may be some mechanical assistance to accomplish my goal of providing breast milk until 2.
the extremely limited vaccination schedule i have imparted on my lucille drives my determination to feed my little breast milk until 2, no matter how i feel about it or how uncomfortable or inconvenient it is for me; that, to me, is the epitome of motherhood. sacrifice for the wee ones.
but back to my point. around 7 months or so, lucy decided she could help herself to her food; i like to call it nose diving. and as humorous as it seems, it quickly morphs to humiliation in public when she dives, grabs, stares, and calls for her food. for some reason, she simply refuses to adhere to the mores of our society, geesh! most people would probably just stop right here, but no, some of us are glutton for punishment (not really, maybe embarrassment). but really, i am just amused at the parallels between babies and teenage boys....or, well, just forget the teenage part (that is just where it begins, i believe it ends in death).

what it is and what it ain't :0)
Pretty much from implantation on, free-flowing advice ranging from how to prevent morning sickness and how to determine the gender of the baby to what and when to feed my little darling and what I should expect of her at any given stage, has spilled from the lips of strangers, I wish-they-were-strangers, friends, parents, in-laws, and all of the well-wishers in between; this is not my purpose here (unsolicited advice giving, that is).
This forum is dedicated to anything and everything I feel like expressing about my little, my dog, our experiences, my rants (and raves) about anything from ill-informed advice-givers to my rose garden; it is not for the thin-skinned nor the weak of heart ;o).
